Because of the impacted nature of public colleges and universities in California, student veterans who are unable to transfer into universities and student veterans who are unable to register for classes may potentially lose portions of their education benefits or the opportunity to use them.
In order to ensure that Student Veterans not only receive their education benefits, but are allowed time to use them, “Comprehensive benefits for Student Veterans” would like to work to amend CA SB 272. The amendment would include priority enrollment and priority registration for all veterans attending public institutions without imposing statute limitations on any aspect of the legislation. The amendment would apply to recently separated veterans, active duty service members, National Guard, and Reserve members and would allow student veterans who become activated to return to their institutions and continue with their education without time limitations.
