Go Vote Absentee was created as a result of the need to design a more available and accessible online platform to vote: “If you can’t be at home on Election Day, you still have the right to vote by absentee ballot, wherever you are and wherever you’re from. Without an easy-to-use information portal, the process can be confusing– you need the appropriate forms, instructions, deadlines, and contact info for your hometown.
In the two months before registration deadline for the 2008 general election, almost 250,000 people used the site to register to vote absentee at a cost of less then 20 cents per person.
Our $5,000 supplemented a grant from the Women’s Donor Network of just over $45,000, specifically allowing GVA to add a live-chat support feature that meant users could get advice and help in real-time when using the site.
