A group of teenagers working with NYRA created videos (thanks to donated Flip video cameras as part of the Award) to expand their voice, give testimonials and present reasons why they should start voting at sixteen. They plan to reach the general public and their peers to pass legislation lowering the voting age at the local, state and federal level. Serious proposals in Massachusetts and California have started discussion on the voting age in the media and legislative bodies. NYRA chapters in New York, Florida and California are joining groups around the country working actively to lower the voting age. Lowering the voting age is an idea whose time has come.
