The current model of disaster relief, both domestic and international, is outdated, bloated and slow, as was demonstrated during Hurricane Katrina and recently in Haiti. This slow reaction time forces these large NGOs to miss the “Golden Window”, which is the time between when a disaster strikes and when critical care is necessary to save lives from dying of acute injuries. Team Rubicon bridges the critical time gap between large natural disasters and conventional aid response. It provides vanguard medical care by fielding small, self-sustaining, mobile teams of specially skilled first-responders.  Team Rubicon harnesses the concepts of our military’s 4th Generation Warfare philosophy (small autonomous teams, rapid deployment, and emphasis on low level decision making) and combines it with the skill sets found in today’s motivated, altruistic and experienced veteran.
