Speaker Bios: Millennial Meetup for Student Success

De Anza Student Trustee and President of Trustees Statewide
Emily Kinner is a Deanza College Student working toward her degree in Environmental Policy and Economics. Over the last year, she has been an activist for the rights and services of De Anza students. Some of her projects include mentoring in LEAD service-learning courses; co-organizing a campus panel on Climate Change, D.A.R.E (De Anza Restoring Education) group conferences to educate students on California budget -cut issues and served as an intern for the success of the CalPirg NO on Prop 23 campaign.
She has most recently participated in a curriculum development conference hosted by the New York Times American Democracy Project; hosted a workshop at UC Berkeley on Social Justice through Sustainability; and represented our California Community College system at an Educational Roundtable at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. She is a currently an intern with the Institute for Community and Civic Engagement and serving the Foothill-Deanza College District as De Anza Student Trustee and serving as President of the California Community College Association of Student Trustees. In Fall 2012, she is hoping to transfer into the Environmental Economics Program at UC Berkeley.
