Katie Taylor

Women’s Initiative for Self Employment

Katie Taylor joined Women’s Initiative in April 2010 as a fellow and was hired as staff in October 2010.  A Bay Area native, Katie has been working in the nonprofit sector and as an activist since 2002, starting with an emphasis on international development and advocacy for the girl child and eventually coming back to work affecting women and girls in the United States.  As a former entrepreneur herself, Katie is delighted to contribute to the work Women’s Initiative does in the Bay Area and throughout the US. Katie has built, developed, and managed volunteer programs for national and local nonprofits, as well as educational institutions; published research; and has developed programs and events.

Katie holds a BA in Public Policy and Spanish and Hispanic Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.  Katie currently serves of the board of COterie DAnce Company (CODA), is a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters Bay Area, and serves as a mentor for the Marcus Foster Education Fund.  In her free time, she enjoys walking her dog Clementine, taking ballet classes, and enjoying living in the Bay Area.

 

Kevin Feliciano
President 

Student Senate for California Community College Colleges

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges represents the 2.6 million students to the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, Board of Governors, the Legislature and the Governor. Feliciano is a Public Administration and Policy major at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA where he also serves as the Student Trustee for the Ohlone Community College District.

Feliciano has extensive experience and knowledge in representing students in the community colleges. He has served as Senator, Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Associated Students of Ohlone College (ASOC) Student Government where during his tenure the ASOC created the Newark Recreation Room at the Newark campus and a Cafeteria Modernization Project at the Fremont campus.

Feliciano has been involved in statewide efforts representing students, most recently serving as the student member of the Student Success Task Force. He has represented students to the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, Faculty Association for California Community Colleges, California Community Colleges Board of Governors and various system office advisory committees like Matriculation.
