Susan Lin

A little girl with big dreams! That’s who Susan Lin is, or hopes to think she is. Although she was born in Brooklyn, New York, she’s an all California girl. Currently on her journey through high school, Lin wants to become more involved with the world and community around her while pursuing her dreams of journalism and design. At school, she is the president of her school’s writing club and is on the yearbook and newspaper staff. She thinks into things too much sometimes, but Lin believes it is all about finding who you are and what you care about at this age. This little girl wants her words to reach people through her writing, so she can relate to people and create lasting impacts. She thinks that self-image and education are crucial topics that pertain to a teen’s life. Through The Millennial Report she hopes to accomplish this and come in contact with people who feel the same way as her. Lin strongly believes in the power of words and in the immortal thought: “I know I can.”

There has been a lot of talk about the “next generation of change”. Specifically about the Millennial perspective on various issues, and their leadership abilities. What exactly is Millennial leadership? Millennials have been reported to be the most ethnically and racially diverse generation to (...)

Failure: Growing Pains

growing-pains-001

I’ve rewritten the first sentence of this article a hundred times over. Why? Because I fear failure. My cover-up story is that I’m a perfectionist, but in reality I am just a procrastinator, hiding behind stressing out and rewriting the same few words over and over to delay the prospect of (...)

The “Bamboo” Ceiling is defined as a “combination of individual, cultural, and organizational factors that impede Asian Americans’ career progress inside organizations.” Although this term, as an allusion to the gendered “glass” ceiling, is used more often used in the corporate (...)

Dark-Knight-Massacre-Official-Twitter-Report-341x500

12 dead and roughly 50 injured. Everybody knows the story by now- it’s straight out the pages of a comic book, or rather, right off the screens of the Dark Knight Rises. Most of the nation is in disbelief that a young man could commit such a crime for what seems like no reason at all, (...)

Underneath the Hijab: The Power of Choice

reply

photo(1)

We are who we make ourselves out to be. Our choices define our identities, and sometimes what we say, do, and wear can’t always be taken at face value. There is rarely a “just because”. Without knowing the reason behind a person’s actions, I believe, no one has the right to judge. For most (...)

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, (...)

Kony 2012: A Millennial-led Movement

reply

Their mission is simple: to spread awareness and bring about the capture of Joseph Kony. Their argument is convincing: in just under 3 days their video has garnered around 27 million views, and I doubt the Facebook statuses will stop cropping up any time soon. Most impressively, Invisible Children (...)

Millenials Unite Against PIPA and SOPA

reply

We stand united. And not in the traditional way, but in the manner that has become commonly associated with Millenials: through the internet. Distinct to the Millenial Generation is the ability to share information and ideas very, very quickly through the web. Where there are new ideas, news, and (...)

Millennials and Time Management

reply

By high school, the constant pressure of a never ending stream of things to do and places to go really kicks in. When there isn’t homework to do, there is soccer practice. If there isn’t soccer practice, of course there is SAT prep, either at an institution or after school. Beyond those, there (...)
