The action components of Democracy 2.0 are the Mobilize.org Democracy 2.0 Summits. Each Summit is modeled after our successful “Party for the Presidency,” which brought hundreds of young people together to refine Democracy 2.0—the blueprint for not only the democracy our generation hopes to inherit, but the democracy we are committed to building.

At  “Party for the Presidency,” Mobilize.org launched its first Democracy 2.0 Award Summit competition, where panelists from Facebook, the Case Foundation and the Forum for Youth Investment received 27 proposals and listened to 15 presentations from participants ranging in age from 16 to 31 from all over the country.

At the end of this exciting conference, Mobilize.org awarded its first Democracy 2.0 Awards to five teams, working on issues from environmental sustainability in Indiana to transportation assistance for low-income student interns in Washington, DC. The grant amounts ranged from $3,000 to $5,000.

Over the past three years Mobilize.org has refined Democracy 2.0 Summits and funded more than 20 projects to address issues such as the financial health of our generation, the issues facing the returning Millennial veteran population, the impact of money on the political process and the opportunity to leverage technology to increase civic engagement.
