Mobilize.org is pioneering an innovative engagement model that leverages the unique characteristics of the Millennial Generation – collaboration, diversity, technological savvy and an entrepreneurial spirit – to ensure that this generation has equal access to actively participate in our democracy, and the skills, resources, relationships and support necessary to work, both individually and collectively to move our communities and our country forward.
With the generous support of American Express, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, Lumina Foundation for Education , Peter G. Peterson Foundation, and The New Community College at CUNY, Mobilize.org will host a Millennial Leadership Summit this fall focused on leadership development opportunities for past Award Winners and summit participants. This summit will convene members of the Mobilize.org network from the past 10 years to offer collaborative learning opportunities, skill-building workshops and Millennial speaking opportunities.
Agenda
The first day of the summit will focus on Millennial voice and provide the Mobilize.org Award Winners an opportunity to share their entrepreneurial experiences, best practices, and advice for current and future award winners. The program will begin with a panel of Philanthropists to describe their decision to fund Mobilize.org’s work and the importance of investing in Millennial leadership. This will be followed by a panel of Award Winners, who will share how they have leveraged Mobilize.org’s investment to develop their Millennial-driven solutions and offer advice for current and future award winners.
This first day of the summit will also mark the official launch of our Millennial Speaker’s Bureau where the award winners will give TED Talk style presentations as well as lead expert sessions with Millennial peers and members of corporate, nonprofit and philanthropic organizations to highlight Millennial achievements and represent the power of this generation’s change-makers.
The second day of the summit will feature advanced networking opportunities, interactive keypad voting evaluation, keynote speakers in the social entrepreneurship and civic engagement fields, leadership development and trainings selected by the participants. The program will begin with the unveiling of the new Mobilize.org Fellowship Program, utilizing interactive keypad voting to discuss resources and tools needed by the summit participants to continue their work as civic entrepreneurs. Following that session, the summit will focus on leadership development and offering the participants networking and training opportunities.
In addition, Mobilize.org conducted a pre-summit survey to determine the needs of the participants and design the program to provide the resources that are most needed. The Training Workshops topics selected by the invited participants are: Community Organizing, Communications/Media, Fundraising (Corporate) and Strategic Partnerships.
