UPDATE: Millennials turned out in record number for the November 6th Presidential Election. CIRCLE research and exit polls suggest that the youth turnout accounted for 19 percent share of the electorate, up 1 percent from 2008.
This means 22-23 million young people – a whopping 49% – voted in this election. Hear what Mobilize.org CEO Maya Enista Smith has to say about this, and the state of Millennial civic engagement pre and post election here.

During the 2012 election cycle, Mobilize.org will continue to work on empowering Millennials to implement innovative solutions that will last long after the voting booths close in November. We are joining with our partners for exciting events leading up to the voting booth, and are encouraging Millennials across the country to join our efforts to convene, invest and mobilize the vote this year.
MTV’s “Power of 12″ Campaign
We are excited to join our partners at MTV’s “Power of 12” campaign, and we want to help unleash the exponential power of the Millennial generation in the 2012 elections and beyond. With over 45 million 18-29 year olds eligible to vote in 2012 – the largest potential voting bloc in the country – young people have the power to be a deciding factor in the Presidential, Congressional and state races nationwide. And that doesn’t just mean deciding who is elected to tackle the big challenges we face, but how we’ll tackle them, given very different visions for how to create jobs, address the skyrocketing cost of college and ensure the future prosperity of America.
The best power pics will be featured on MTV’s on-air and online platforms!
